Description
English: Eala Earendel engla beorhtast, ofer middangeard monnum sended (Hail Earendel, brightest of angels, sent to men over middle-earth) - Exeter Book folio 9v top two lines, being lines 104-105 of the poem Crist I. These lines inspired J. R. R. Tolkien, in around 1913, to start his legendarium.
