Summary

Description
English: The French Canadian Édouard Lacroix, a lumber baron, built a 13 mile railroad in the northern woods of Maine, that operated from 1927 to 1933. The first locomotive, too old and underpowered, had numerous breakdowns. The Brooks 1901 (No 2) was bought in New York, came by rail to Frontiere Lake, was dismantled in two (boiler and running gear) and put on two sleds. In March 1928, two Lombard log haulers pulled them over 68 miles of iced forest road to “Tramway site” between Eagle Lake and Chamberlain Lake, Maine, USA. At the end of his contract with the Great Northern, Lacroix left the two steam locomotives in a shed at the Eagle Lake terminus.
