Wurlitzer 3500 "Zodiac" Juke-box from 1971. Close-up of the carousel and turntable mechanisms. The disc carousel is on the left, holding 100x 45 RPM discs and the turntable is on the right. The mechanical arm picks up a record, removes it from the carousel, rotates it to the chosen side and gently places it on the turntable. The play arm then moves to the edge of the turntable to start playback. Once the playback is over, the play arm moves out of the way, the mechanical arm grips the disc and places it back into the slot from which it was originally retrieved. A small brush cleans the stylus before and after playback. Each disc holder on the carousel has a small mechanical counter, this allows the technician to see which disc is popular.
