English: The mural is executed in a combination of concrete and ceramic shaped relief components in a series of seven panels inset into a wall. Each component depicts a significant event in the history of Droitwich. Reading from left to right, these include the Roman name Salinae, bathing in the salt spa, the town coat of arms bearing the motto, 'Sal sapit omnia' (salt flavours everything) and King Ethelbald granting Evesham Abbey the right to a salt pit. The central figures on the next two panels are King John, who granted salt rights to the burgesses of Driotwich in 1215, and St. Richard, who was born in the town. The salt pans beneath them bear the names Middlewic, Helperic and Upwic: these were the location of the salt wells. The coats of arms on the next panel are those of Hereford and Worcester. The ship represents the Mayflower on which Edward Winslow sailed to America in 1620.
