This aircraft was assigned to VR3 stationed at Moffett NAS in the early 50's. I worked on it (128425) as an AEM for at least 2 years. We received 128423, 128425, 128427, 128429, 128431 and 128433from the Douglas plant in Ontario,CA, adding to our fleet of R5D Skymasters..

Summary

Description A U.S. Navy Douglas R6D-1 Liftmaster (BuNo 128425), in flight. The tail marking is "Continental Division" of the Military Air Transoprt Service. This aircraft was finally retired to the MASDC as 8C0011 on 10 October 1976.
