Description
English: A U.S. Navy Douglas EA-1F Sykraider (BuNo 132506) from Tactical Electronic Warfare Squadron 33 (VAQ-33) "Firebirds". VAQ-33 Det.67 was assigned to Carrier Air Wing 1 (CVW-1) aboard the aircraft carrier USS John F. Kennedy (CVA-67) for a deployment to the Mediterranean Sea from 5 April to 21 December 1969. This was the last operational deployment of the Skyraider in the U.S. Navy. Det.67 flew 132506, 132575 and 132599, but 132599 crashed on 28 June 1969.
The aircraft has an inscription painted on the fuselage (barely visible in this photo): "From: USS John F. Kennedy To: Smithonian Institute". This aircraft was retired at Naval Air Station Norfolk, Virginia (USA), on 2 February 1970.
