Deutsch: Fresko aus dem Kasino der Villa Aldobrandini in Frascati. 1958 von Anton Graf Lanckoronski an die National Gallery in London verkauft. NG6288.
English: For the subject see Ovid, 'Metamorphoses' (6). Apollo defeated the satyr Marsyas in a musical competition; as a punishment for failure, Apollo flayed him.

The picture was originally above the door of the Stanza di Apollo in Villa Aldobrandini, hence its format.

It can reasonably be accepted as an autograph work.
