Summary

Description
English: Dinton Castle, near to Dinton, Buckinghamshire, Great Britain. It was built on a mound beside the main Aylesbury-Oxford road by Sir John Vanhattem of Dinton Hall in 1769 to house his collection of fossils, hence the shell motif on the walls. But the building was never completed and is now so ruined that it has been mistaken for a genuine Gothic relic. Sir John, whose family originally came over to England with William of Orange, bought Dinton Hall in 1727 from the Mayne family
