English: Plaque on the spot where Joseph Burns was hanged in 1848 for the murder of naval lieutenant, Robert Snow, his wife and daughter on in 1847. Burns became the first European to be executed in New Zealand under British law. The plaque is situated on King Edward Parade in Devonport, Auckland. It erroneously states that the crime was committed on the spot of his subsequent execution, and that it was commited in 1848.
