Description

"Design for an Æsthetic Theatrical Poster" from the May 7, 1881 issue of Punch. Gilbert and Sullivan's Patience and F. C. Burnand's The Colonel had only just premièred, and it was a hot topic.

Note the tiny W.S. Gilbert in the lower right.
