DescriptionDerwenthaugh Railway Bridge, around 1987..jpg
English: The railway bridge carrying the Newcastle to Carlisle line over the river Derwent where it flows into the Tyne near Blaydon, photographed around 1987. Derwenthaugh Staithe and it's associated tar and ammonia storage tanks are just visible over the side of the bridge to the right, and Stella North Power Station's cooling towers are visible in the background with one of Stella South's twin chimneys behind. The other chimney is obscured by steam from the towers. The bridge carrying Chainbridge Road over the tracks can be seen in the distance, and just beyond the end of the bridge to the left, the junction leading to the NCB/BR exchange sidings which served Derwenthaugh Cokeworks.
