Summary

Description
English: The Hampton P. Denman House (also known as the Denman-Werlich House) located at 1623 16th Street NW in Washington, D.C. The Richardsonian Romanesque house, built in 1886 for Hampton P. Denman, was designed by Albert W. Fuller and William A. Wheeler. For several decades it was the home of socialite Gladys Hinckley Werlich, who was murdered on a sidewalk near the house in 1976. For 30 years the building housed the Green Door mental health clinic before being purchased by the current owner, the Scientology organization Social Betterment Properties International. On the left is 1625 16th Street NW, a condominium which originally served as an apartment building when constructed in 1910.
