Nederlands: Portret door John Caller van sir Polydoor de Keyser (1888).

Sir Polydore De Keyser werd geboren te Dendermonde op 13 december 1832 als zoon van makelaar Judocus De Keyser en Catharina Troch. Hij week in 1842 met zijn ouders uit naar Engeland, waar zijn vader een hotel uitbaatte. In 1874 opende Polydore, in navolging van zijn vader, naast de Blackfriars Bridge het imposante De Keyser’s Royal Hotel. In 1882 werd hij Alderman en in 1887 werd hij verkozen tot Lord Mayor van Londen. In die hoedanigheid bracht hij in 1888 een bezoek aan zijn geboortestad, die hem verwelkomde met een speciale Ros Beiaardommegang.

Het portret is te zien in het stadhuis van Dendermonde.
English: Portrait by John Caller of sir Polydore de Keyser (1888), Lord Mayor of London, in the City Hall of Dendermonde. The dedication reads : Presented to the Lady Mayoress by the inhabitants of the ward of Farrington Without as a mark of their esteem [i]n appreciaton of the distinguished success [...]h which the various duties of the mayoralty have been discharged during the past year.
