Notes This miniature is described as the visual expression of a Rāgini traditionally associated with the Krishna-Radha couple, the Sri Rāga. It is a raga performed in the early morning or at sunset in winter, which, according to the Pahari Ragamala, expresses the fullness and seriousness that allows to face the future with humility. It is therefore logical that Maru should be represented, walking in the desert of Rajasthan in the company of his King, his dogs and a small number of servants.
