Summary

Description
English: Decoration on Bury Street 13-14 Bury Street was built in 1897-9 as the Marlborough Hotel; in 1903 it was occupied by the Charity Commissioners. http://www.british-history.ac.uk/report.aspx?compid=40577#s3 describes the building as "early Renaissance with a French bias is perhaps the most appropriate stylistic label for this extraordinary building", and uses the term "perverse ugliness". Here, egg-and-dart moulding surrounds the windows, with elaborate decoration in the spandrels.
