English: Inscription in Latin translated as: "To the perpetual memory of Matthew Decker, Baronet, and Theodore Netscher, Gentleman. This pineapple [literally ‘cone of the pine’], deemed worthy of the royal table, grew at Richmond at the cost of the former, and still seems to grow by the art of the latter. H[enry] Watkins set up this inscription, A.D. 1720". Collection of the FitzWilliam Museum, Cambridge. Painting of a pineapple grown in the garden at Richmond Green, Surrey, of Sir Matthew Decker, 1st Baronet, grandfather of the museum’s founder.
