Description
Nederlands: Voorstelling van de overhandiging van een halssnoer met een gouden vogel, door de Engelse koning Charles II aan zijn broer Jacob Stuart, hertog van York. Deze gebeurtenis vond plaats op 2 oktober 1656, de dag waarop het koninklijk gezelschap werd ontvangen door het bestuur van de Sint-Barbaragilde en Jacob Stuart de hoofdvogel, de 'papegay', heeft afgeschoten. De eigenlijke overhandiging is uitgebeeld in de tuin van de schuttersgilde, onder een baldakijn dat versierd is met de blazoenen van het Engelse koningshuis, de Stad Brugge en de hoofdman Vincent Stochove, die op dat moment het gildebestuur voorzat. Net als op het pendant is de groep begeleid door tal van gildeleden en dignitarissen, waaronder opnieuw de Brugse bisschop Carolus van den Bosch. (Naar: H. Vlieghe, Stedelijke Musea Brugge.
