This flag image could be re-created using vector graphics as an SVG file. This has several advantages; see Commons:Media for cleanup for more information. If an SVG form of this image is available, please upload it and afterwards replace this template with {{vector version available|new image name}}.
It is recommended to name the SVG file “Flag of Dayton, Ohio (1958–2021).svg”—then the template Vector version available (or Vva) does not need the new image name parameter.
This work did not meet the formalities required for copyright protection. The flag itself bore no copyright notice when chamber president Kenneth P. Morse publicly presented it to Spahr, Kress, and Mayor R. William Patterson on the day of the flag's adoption. The flag was also published the same day in the form of a city ordinance, which is in the public domain as an edict of a U.S. local government. [1]
Note that it may still be copyrighted in jurisdictions that do not apply the rule of the shorter term for US works (depending on the date of the author's death), such as Canada (50 p.m.a.), Mainland China (50 p.m.a., not Hong Kong or Macao), Germany (70 p.m.a.), Mexico (100 p.m.a.), Switzerland (70 p.m.a.), and other countries with individual treaties.
