A sign by the road in front of the house says the following: "David Littell House - Built 1851 on 1796 land grant called Chestnut Flats. Fourth house on this site. Tannery was operated here 1819-1860. Littells were among first settlers in area. Significant example 19th century architecture. Named to National Historic Register 1986. Beaver County Historical Research and Landmarks Foundation".
