Additional information: This photo was taken by Howard's photo at Howard's PhD graduation ceremony. Dan Walls was a well-renowned New Zealand physicist specialising in the field of quantum optics. He is one of the namesakes of the Dodd-Walls Centre a national research centre for quantum and photonic technologies in New Zealand. Howard Carmichael was one of Dan Wall's first two PhD students. He went on to contribute significantly to the field of quantum optics, particularly through his 'quantum trajectory theory'.
