Summary
DescriptionDan Shapiro visit to TAU 055 (7021405727).jpg | Ambassador Daniel Shapiro began his first official visit to Tel Aviv University with a tour of the Moshe Dayan Center’s state of the art multi-media room, where the research assistants monitor all TV broadcasts and exchange messages via Facebook with young people from all over the Arab and Muslim world. Dayan Center Director Prof. Uzi Rabi then hosted a discussion with world-class experts on Iran, Syria, Egypt, Palestine and Jordan, in an attempt to make some order in the regional chaos of the past year. In a meeting with the TAU President Prof. Joseph Klafter and Vice President Eran Rabani, they discussed TAU’s current educational and scientific exchanges and linkages with American institutions, and explored ways to find additional avenues of cooperation. Finally, in an International Forum, Ambassador Shapiro spoke about “Expanding the Israel-US Partnership in a Changing Middle East” with 200 students and English-Speaking Friends of TAU, responding to questions from the audience in English and fluent Hebrew. |
