This image was created by placing a DVD+R with some data onto my Epson ET-2800 scanning bed, scanning at 1200 DPI, opening it in GIMP, cropping to the disk (which turns out to not be a 100% perfect circle, the plastic has much coarser tolerances than the recording layer), separating the text and radially convolving (blurring) 15° around the center of the disk to remove blemishes (and moiré), cutting out the center and adding translucency to the inner and outer parts of the disc.
