Object history
Deutsch: Waldstetten wurde 1417 zum Markt erhoben. Aus dieser Zeit stammt wohl auch der Siegel, von dem ein Abdruck aus dem Jahr 1421 überliefert ist. Er zeigt die Egge allein im Schild. Ein ähnliches Siegel ist aus dem 17. Jahrhundert bekannt. Der Legende nach stellt die Egge die Verwüstung des Ortes im Bauern- oder Schwedenkrieg dar, was allerdings nicht stimmen kann, da die Egge bereits vor den Bauernkriegen im Siegel erscheint. Die Egge sollte wohl den bäuerlichen Charakter des Ortes darstellen. Im 18. Jahrhundert kommt sie im Sekret auch liegend vor. Erst im 19. Jahrhundert kam das Kreuz des Deutschen Ordens hinzu. Es erinnert an die Deutschordenskommende Altshausen, die den Ort 1673 erwarb einschließlich der Patronatsrechte und des Hochgerichts. Waldstetten entwickelte sich zum Sitz der obersten Verwaltungsbehörde der neu gebildeten Deutschordensherrschaft Rohr-Waldstetten.
