Object history
Deutsch: Thannhausen ist seit 1348 als Markt belegt. Es gilt als wahrscheinlich, lässt sich allerdings urkundlich nicht nachweisen, dass Kaiser Friedrich III. dem Ort in der zweiten Hälfte des 15. Jahrhunderts das Wappen verliehen hat. Überliefert ist ein Siegel aus dem 17. Jahrhundert. Es zeigt die beiden für den Ortsnamen redenden Tannen und das schlossähnliche Haus. Der Legende nach handelt es sich bei dem Gebäude um die ehemalige Burg der Ortsadelsfamilie der Taigenhuser, die 1109 erstmals erwähnt werden. Sie waren Reichsministerialen. Mauerreste ihrer Burg sind nicht erhalten. 1348 wurde Thannhausen zum Markt erhoben, 1953 zur Stadt.
