Object history
English: The arms were granted on January 6, 1972. The arms combine elements form the two former district arms. The chief (fess chequy) is derived from the oldest arms of the Counts of Sponheim, the eagle represents the former imperial cities Boppard and Oberwesel. The lion is the lion of Palatinate; all symbols were part of both former district arms, the districts of Simmern and Sankt Goar.
