Deutsch: Das goldene Kreuz verweist auf die enge Verbindung der Gemeinde mit dem 1010 neu gegründeten Augustinerchorherrenstift Polling, die 1950 anlässlich der 1200-Jahrfeier der Gemeinde in einem Wappen zur Geltung gebracht werden sollte. Ein erstes Kloster ist vermutlich schon um 750 von Herzog Tassilo III. gegründet worden; Polling gehört zu den ältesten Siedlungen des Voralpenlandes. Das Pollinger Kreuz erinnert an die mit der Klostergründung verbundene Legende, nach der die herzogliche Jagdmeute im Pollinger Forst eine Hirschkuh umstellte, die ein Kreuz aus dem Boden gewühlt hatte. Hirschkuh und liegendes Kreuz sind seit dem 16. Jahrhundert als Wappenbild des Klosters Polling nachgewiesen. Das Gemeindewappen nimmt das Klosterwappen in geminderter Form auf. Die Tingierung wurde willkürlich gewählt. |
