Object history
Deutsch: Das Wappen des Landkreises Donau-Ries wurde am 27. April 1977 von der Regierung Schwaben verliehen. Das goldene Andreaskreuz ist dem Wappen der Grafen von Oettingen entnommen und stand schon im Wappen des Landkreises Nördlingen. Der Reichsadler erinnert an die einstigen Reichsstädte Donauwörth und Nördlingen. Die Rauten aus dem Wappen des Landkreises Donauwörth stellen die Verbindung des südlichen Kreisgebiets zum Herzogtum Bayern dar.
English: The arms were officially granted on April 27, 1977. They combine the symbols of the former districts, the saltire from counts of Oettingen (former district Nördlingen), the imperial eagle symbolise the cities of Donauwörth and Nördlingen and the (bavarian) lozengy quarter the former district of Donauwörth.
