Object history

Deutsch: Das Wappen ist leicht abgewandelt von dem Wappen der Herren von Horst. Alexander von Horst war von 1782-1790 Abt in Hamborn. In dieser Form wurde das Wappen von 1911-1929 genutzt. Wegen der dann erfolgten Eingemeindung nach Duisburg, wurde eine Genehmigung des Wappens durch den Oberpräsidenten der Rheinprovinz nie beantragt. Das Wappen zierte offizielle Schriftstücke der Stadt Hamborn. Ab 1927 wurde der Löwe ohne Krone aber mit Schlägel und Eisen, die Symbole des Bergbaus, in seinen Pranken gezeigt. Es ist heraldisch nicht korrekt gestaltet; der untere Teil des roten Löwen auf grünem Feld ist gemäß der Farbregel unzulässig.
