Summary

Description

English: „Argent, above a triple mountain azure a church gules with roofs and crosses patée azure plus windows sable, thereover pending an armed, langued and crowned azure passant double-tailed lion gules.“ The arms were granted on January 21, 1929 and were not based on old seals or arms, as such were not available. The mountain (Berg) and church (Kirche) are canting symbols. The lion is the lion of the counts of Berg, who first acquired the area of the city in the 12th century.
