Summary

Description

In 1958, The United States' National Malaria Eradication Program used an entirely new approach implementing DDT for spraying of mosquitoes.

DDT, first developed during the early stages of WWII, was very effective in combating vector-borne diseases such as malaria, typhus, but was banned by the Environmental Protection Agency in June, 1972, from general use in the United States.
