Summary

Description
English: A crank-powered flashlight, disassembled to show internal mechanism. This type of flashlight is powered by a battery that is charged by a generator turned by a hand crank. It is used as an emergency light or for remote areas like vacation cabins, since replaceable batteries in flashlights eventually lose their charge during storage. It has 2 power levels: pushing the switch once turns on one LED, pushing it again turns on all three. 1 minute of cranking provides about 30 min of light on low setting, 25 min on high. Labeled parts:
  1. Crank
  2. Reduction gear train (120:1) to run generator
  3. Permanent magnet brushless AC generator
  4. Lithium-ion rechargeable cell, LIR2032, 3.6V, 35 mAh
  5. Full-wave rectifier to change AC from generator to DC to charge cell
  6. Pushbutton switch, 3 position
  7. 3 LED (light emitting diode) lamps
  8. Reflector housing
  9. Plastic cover
