| Description |
English: Front view of the Coolidge Dam located southeast of Globe, Arizona. This 249 foot tall (76 meter) unique reinforced concrete multiple dome and buttress dam was built across the Gila River in the 1920s to form San Carlos Lake. Download the high resolution version below to zoom in and see the impressive details such as the two eagles which are mounted at the top of the dam and the painfully long stairway that zig-zags down the left side. A built-up 4x4 vehicle and roughly 1 mile (one-way) hike was required to capture this angle.
