Summary

Description
English: Ceremonial stoneware vessel, double wine cup in the shape of a mounted warrior from Gaya federation (42-562), a group of statelets which existed during the Three Kingdoms period in southern Korea. Stone ware with ash glaze figurine, 5th-6th century, reportedly from Tôksan-ni, Kimhae, South Kyongsang Province. Gyeongju National Museum in Gyeongju, Gyeongbuk province. It was designated as National Treasure No. 275 of the Republic of Korea on January 15, 1993.

It is a person-shaped earthenware with a height of 23.2cm, width of 14.7cm, and bottom diameter of 9.2cm, in the shape of a person who is riding a horse and thought to have been made in the Three Kingdoms period. A rectangular flat plate was placed on the base of the trumpet, and a horse was placed on it. The base is the same shape as the bamboo plate of Gaya, and has two rows of holes. At the four corners of the base, there is a horse leg carved by hand. The horses depicted the armor very realistically, and the wiggles are straightened. He sat in the armor, holding the weapon, on the horse. The warrior wears a helmet on his head, a javelin on his right hand, and a shield on his left hand. Especially noteworthy is the realistic representation of a shield that does not convey the real thing yet. On the back of the samurai, a pair of horn-shaped cups were placed.

This horsemen-shaped earthenware is valued as valuable material for the study of Gaya's horses and weapons.
