DescriptionColuber constrictor mormon -- closeup of face, frontal.jpg
English: I took this photo on a gravel road in between a pond and some wetlands in a ponderosa pine and aspen forest near the town of Cheney, Washington. The snake here was basking in the road, on a warm sunny day in early June. He was very calm while I took photos of him, even when I got very close to his head. It was only when I touched his tail that he retreated into a nearby thicket, after which I could not locate him.
