DescriptionColtishall Bure Valley train geograph-3854771-by-Ben-Brooksbank.jpg
English: Bure Valley train at Coltishall, 1994.
View westward on the 15-inch gauge Bure Valley Railway, with an Aylsham - Wroxham train hauled by the then new 2-6-2 'Spitfire' about to call at Coltishall Platform. On the left is the remains of the former Coltishall station on the ex-GER Wroxham - Aylsham - County School line. The station closed to passengers 15/9/52 (goods 19/4/65), when the branch passenger service ceased. However, the line remained open for freight until 1/82, mainly for traffic from Concrete Works at Lenwade (on the former M&GN Norwich City branch, closed 3/59) by a new loop (1960) between Themelthorpe and Reepham. The Bury Valley 'heritage' line was opened 10/7/90 and flourishes, see [1].
