Summary
[edit]Description | Picture of Michael Heizer's sculptural installation Collapse (1967/2016) at Glenstone in Potomac, Maryland, in 2023. A deep pit with perfectly straight edges sits in the center of a courtyard filled with red gravel. The pit's walls are reinforced with a steel that matches the color of the gravel. Several square steel beams of the same color, each stretching over 16 feet long, are stacked together seemingly haphazardly in the pit, pointing out and up from the pit at different sharp angles. The walls of the courtyard are made from a light grey stone, and several trees are visible behind the walls. |
