Summary

Description
English: A coat of arms of the European Union that has not been adopted, composed of 28 quarterings, each representing a member state. This heraldic method, known as marshalling, has over the course of centuries been used to symbolise international unions in heraldry. Examples include the arms of the mediaeval Kalmar Union, the Swedo-Norwegian union (1814–1905), the United Kingdom (1707–present), the Holy Roman Empire (1765), Serbia and Montenegro (1993-2006), the present Kingdom of Spain etc. The number of possible quarterings is unlimited.
