Summary

Description
English: Coat of arms of the Danish island of Bornholm as used by the former County of Bornholm and the current Regional Municipality of Bornholm. The cockatrice has been a symbol of Bornholm since the late 16th century. Its origin is related to the liberation of Bornholm in 1658. Three danish shot and killed the swedish castle commander and sheriff Printzenskjöld before he received reinforcements, and a pillar is standing on the spot he was killed, still to this day. These three has been eternalized on the coat of arms as the cockatrice, that petrified the enemy and liberated the island..
