Because Sir Archibald was the first Chancellor of the University, leant his name and parts of his arms to the College and is now deceased. Also coat of arms do not have a copyright unless otherwise lodged separately - as it is personal arms, it will most likely not have been lodged. Additionally, Sir Archibald has deceased.
