Summary

Description
English: Coastal Path at Cockersand Abbey The New Red Sandstone outcrop is probably the remains of the quarry used to supply the initial stone for building the Abbey. Soft and easy to carve, it weathered badly and later stone used was a much harder grey gritstone.
