- Identification by: Prof. Gerry Carr, who comments, "If I can trust my eyes these seem to consistently have 3 branched styles, 5 stamens, 5 petals, and 2 sepals which would place them in Claytonia. It seems that you have come upon the most beautiful form of Claytonia megarhiza (C. megarhiza var. nivalis) which is known from the Wenatchee Mts., including Chelan Co. Although I have not yet seen it, the form we have down here has pale pink or white petals with pink venation." Hitchcock and Conquest, p. 105
