Summary

Description This circa 1860 Talish antique rug measures 3’6” X 7’8” (110 x 238 cm). This is a so called Star Talish for obvious reasons. It has eight pointed stars in navy blue, medium blue and ivory on a light red brick colored ground. It has a minor border of red and dark brick stars on an ivory ground followed by the first half of a pair of reciprocal borders of squares with crosses in ivory, black, pale brick and dark red on a variegated dark blue ground followed with a major border of the famous Talish design of chrysanthemums in at least five different colors separated by squares filled with crosses on an ivory ground . Going towards the outer border comes the second half of the reciprocal borders only this one has a red ground instead of blue. The outer border is a dark blue and black arrow head border. The ends and sides are complete. Detail of about 2/3 of the rug.
