English: ANNAPOLIS, Md. (Sept. 9, 2024) The U.S. Naval Academy’s Brigade of Midshipmen and attendees gather in Alumni Hall for the semester’s first Forrestal lecture given by class of 1993, Capt. “Chris” Cassidy, Navy SEAL and a NASA astronaut. He spoke that his career stemmed from the lessons he learned from the U.S. Naval Academy. He emphasized the importance of teamwork, and that during some of his toughest moments of adversity, he leaned on his teammates to push through to mission success. The Forrestal Lecture Series was established in 1970 to honor James V. Forrestal, the first Secretary of Defense. The purpose of the series is to enhance the education, awareness, and appreciation of the Brigade of Midshipmen for the social, political, and cultural dimensions of the Nation and the world.
