English: China Inland Mission School in Chefoo China, a boarding school established in 1881, provided an education for the children of foreign missionaries and the foreign business and diplomatic communities in China. Sports such as rowing, football (soccer), tennis, cricket and swimming were popular at the school. The girl sitting to the right is Edith Rinell, daughter of Swedish missionaries Johan Aldred and Hedvig Rinell of the Swedish baptist mission 'Svenska Baptistsamfundet' based in Jiaozhou (simplified Chinese: 胶州; traditional Chinese: 膠州; pinyin: Jiāozhōu) China. |
