DescriptionChi Cygni near minima in visible light and infrared.jpg
English: Chi Cygni near its minimum brightness in visible light and 1µm infrared light. The spectacular reduction in visible magnitude is largely caused by a shift in the peak emission wavelength towards the infrared during its cycle. As a result, when viewed in infrared light, the star is quite bright even at minima.
