Description

The coat-of-arms of the District of Chetwynd, British Columbia. As illustrated in its coat-of-arms, Chetwynd is situated at an ancient floodplain at the foot of the Rocky Mountains and acts as the gateway to the Peace River area to the east. The town developed during the construction of infrastructure through the Rocky Mountains in the 1950s and, today, its economy is dominated by primary industries such as forestry, natural gas extraction, agriculture and transportation.
