Português: Papel, tecido, metal. Sem local, sem data. Doador desconhecido.
English: Ryukyu Buyo hat. Paper, fabric, metal. Unknown place, unknown date. Unknown donor. Collection of the Immigration Museum of São Paulo. Initially with very little registered information, the hat is part of the attire used in the traditional Okinawan dance, known as Ryukyu Buyo. Ryukyu was the name a kingdom that existed until the middle of the 19th century, in the region where Okinawa is located today. In spite of the change in the name, the dance continues as a reference to the former kingdom. This dance emerged as form of homage to the kings and Chinese delegations that had trade relations in the region. The hat has waves in the blue details, which remind the Okinawan see. Its shape alludes to a lotus flower.
