English: "Cavalry Shaft, Gettysburg, Ceremonies Oct. 15. '84." (cropped) Photograph of the dedication ceremonies for the Gregg Cavalry Shaft, East Cavalry Field, Gettysburg Battlefield, October 15, 1884.
The monument was designed by P. F. Eisenbrown of Eagle Granite Works, Reading, Pennsylvania. It was commissioned by Major-General David McMurtrie Gregg, whose Union cavalry defeated C.S.A. cavalry under General J.E.B. Stuart.
