DescriptionCat on a cold tin roof - geograph.org.uk - 434975.jpg
English: Cat on a cold tin roof This cat was sitting on top of a parked car as I passed by. Behind is the garden hedge around its presumed home. Although it looks well-fed and content to watch the world go by, these well-cared-for domestic moggies are deemed responsible for making a huge dent in the population of our no-longer so common-or-garden songbirds.
A survey carried out by the Mammal Society in 1997 suggested that domestic cats take a total 250 million prey items per year or roughly 37 creatures per cat! (Some of these of course will be rats and other so-called vermin.)
