Description
The experts at Bruun Rasmussen described this painting as Marine med orlogsfartøjer (Marine painting with naval ships). They were right, but could have been more specific. This combination of Danish naval vessels could be seen in August-September 1890, when the masted cruiser St. Thomas (left), the brand new cruiser Valkyrien (center) and the coastal defence ship Iver Hvitfeldt (right), plus three torpedo boats formed the the exercise squadron of that year.
